Well, that didn't happen.
Instead, I went out on Saturday morning, made it about two miles before going oh crap, then went another two miles before, for the first time since my freshman year in cross country, having to stop in the middle of a run because I honestly thought I would pass out.
And, predictably, I was lost.
As I staggered along the pavement (pavement = sidewalk), I wondered how I could possibly feel so woozy. I thought about the day before. London. And then I realized I hadn't eaten anything more than a hot dog in the past twenty-four hours.
Unsurprisingly, I sometimes forget to eat when Things Are Happening.
So I trudged the Trudge of Shame back to my rooms, whited out at the top of the stairs, made it back to my room, decided that no, I wasn't really hungry after all, just tired, and went to take a shower.
ATP is important for brain function, apparently.
Anyhow.
Once I'd choked down a few pieces of bread, I ran off to do groceries and rent a guitar.
Dear God, I've rented a guitar.
You can't really tell from the picture, but it's solid mahogany, meaning it's both very heavy and about twice the price of the guitar I have back at home. It's got a lovely, deep rich sound, even if the highs are a little muffled for my tastes.
Whilst avoiding my horrifically dull readings for my psycholinguistics class, I came to the realization that there was a lot of noise coming from the Cam out my window.
I took a peek outside, and golly gee whiz, it was like the 405 out there, people smashing into people, with lots of shouting.
It started raining sideways a bit after that, which cleared things up a bit, but this is Cambridge, and apparently, there's always someone out on the river on the weekends.
I went to one of the last evensongs in the chapel and gleefully bypassed the horde of people waiting outside. Being a student at King's has its perks, I guess.
And so I went on my long-aborted long run this morning, after having carefully inhaled what had quite possibly been my weight in rice last night.
Holy crap, was it warm out today. It might even have reached the seventies.
After that, I ran across town to church, did some more shopping in a rather shady, very tiny Chinese market, then popped on back to get some work done.
Also, I cooked eggs in a glass in a microwave. Rice to follow.
Lots to do, lots to do.
